Music Magazine: Design: Contents: Draft 1

This is my first design of a contents page, I decided to make it colourful and this page does not have a white background like my others. This makes it different from my other pages but I have kept the theme in the text by keeping the text colours similar and the font. The colours that make up the gradient background are also colours that have been used as the design colours throughout my front cover and double page spread. Next lesson I am going to add in more photographs of the artist on my double page spread and images from a concert to make the magazine look more interesting on one of the first pages people will come across.

Music Magazine: Design: Front Cover: FINAL

I have added even more into my front cover design. I decided to add a banner as this attracts attention and makes the magazine style more interesting. I have added more cover lines sticking to similar fonts and using the same colours used previously, this helps stick to the theme of the magazine throughout. I have found a barcode and used that on my cover too. This makes it look more real and will be used for obvious payment purposes, I chose to put the barcode underneath the price of the magazine. I am getting closer to finishing my front cover, with one more attempt I think I will have a final design.

Music Magazine: Design: Double Page Spread: Draft 1

This is the start of my double page spread. I have started inserting the interview I have previously typed up in word. I have created a style for my paragraphs throughout the page and this style will be the same in each paragraph. Next time I need to think about inserting images, boxes and colour to make the page more interesting.

Music Magazine: Design: Front Cover: Draft 2

I have added in more cover lines and made them more interesting to the eye. I am staying with the same similar colours and this will become a style that will follow on all my magazine pages. I have added in a oval shape which has a drop shadow effect. I think this makes the magazine cover look more professional. I have added in the date and price in the top right corner of the magazine too. I next plan to add in a barcode and more cover lines using the similar colours and font styles. I want to keep the cover lines style and interesting as possible. On the final magazine cover I would like it to be filled with cover lines.

Music Magazine: Design: Front Cover: Draft 1

This is the progress on my front cover. I am happy with the design so far, i believe the main image is different to what you may normally see on a music magazine as she is sat down. I have kept the background white to match the simplicity look in my proposal. Many music magazines are over packed and have a lot of things going on, this can sometimes make it hard to focus on one thing. This is why i have chosen to go down the simple route so it is different to other music magazines on the shelf and will stand out.

Music Magazine: Research & Planning: Proposal

  • My music magazine is going to be aimed at 16-24 year olds as this is the target audience age related mostly to chart music. I want my magazine to be successful with both the male and female audience. This means this is the age group that is going to enjoy my magazine the most and it must match their needs to make them want my magazine.
  • What the magazines all about and aims to achieve: The magazine is going to be about all the main stream music that people are enjoying. It will include artists, songs and albums that are in the chart. It will also have information about new releases and up coming releases that we think would do well in the charts. The magazine aims to get all the information about chart music across as is needed by the audience. It will achieve covering all genres of music and to be suitable to everyone no matter what their taste in music.
  • Main image: For the main image I am planning on using a female to model as a new and up coming  pop star that is expected to do well in the charts and with the target audience. I have chose a female as it is easier to transform her into a pop star look then a male model.
  • Theme: For the magazine I want to keep a similar theme all the way through so there is a distinct difference between my magazine and other magazines also in the market too. It will have its own unique look about it which will make it stand out against other competing magazines.
  • Text: I am going to provide interesting text styles on the front cover to attract the attention of the reader. I am going to use a polite language and make sure there are no sarcastic/mocking articles/cover lines in my magazine as I want it to be suitable for a wide audience and not everyone would appreciate that.
  • Design: I want the magazine to have a simple style to the design as there are too many magazines already on the market that look over crowded and have too much going on all in the same page. If I make my magazine design simple it should stand out against all the others. I want the audiences eyes to be able to focus on one thing then move to the next and not put too much on the page they don't know where to look or what to read.
